Cherry blossom trees have been an important part of Japanese culture for centuries. It signifies Spring, fragility, and the beauty of life. Each year, people across the nation anticipate the blossoming of these trees as they are accompanied with festivities among family and friends.

Cherry Blossoms_SakuraCherry blossoms, also known as sakura in Japanese, are delicate pink flowers produced by cherry blossom trees. These overwhelmingly beautiful flowers are a sight to behold once in full bloom, but also a visual reminder of how precious life could be due to their tragically short lives. So, when family and friends gather, it is not only to observe the beautiful flowers, but to also think about the deeper meaning and cultural tradition of sakura.

Here at Japanese Creations, we offer design learning kits in three different traditional Japanese art: Chigiri-e, Etegami, and Chirimen. Let us introduce how cherry blossoms are used in our three design learning kits.

Chigiri-e is a Japanese-style paper collage created by tearing hand-dyed Washi paper to create realistic or abstract images, frameable art, cards, and many more. In our cherry blossoms design kit, you will be able to create beautiful pink petals vibrantly laid out across your canvas.

Etegami is an intuitive, colorful folk art consisting of simple Sumi ink drawings paired with a few thoughtful words to be used as greeting cards. You can create subtle pink layers of cherry blossoms with Etegami.

The art of Chirimen transforms scraps of kimono fabric into modern and traditional accessories, ornaments and many more. This cute Gamaguchi coin purse is created with beautiful cherry blossoms prints.
